I have just been looking at a blog post by one of the Internets most prolific marketers and it really opened my eyes to an idea that I’ve never thought about before.

This is the idea of “Will It Work For Me”? – where you choose business opportunities depending on how well they fit with your marketing style and ability. This is a big part of building the millionaire mindset because if you can’t filter out the poor business opps from the ones that are going to do well for you then you’re not going to go far.

Here’s their video:

The problem I used to face and was still facing at the start of the year was realizing what worked best for me.

There are so many methods, techniques, models and advice out there which give you information on someone else’s way of doing things… and the fact is that this advice might actually harm your journey. The problem is that using someone else’s advice (and a lot of conflicting advice) is that you cannot form your own way of doing things and end up floundering.

Most newbies don’t know what works for them, meaning that when they go and try and find a good business model to use, they end up looking through all sorts of information. Have you ever noticed how the people selling IM products always have a set ’style’ in the way they do things? Some of them might rely heavily on PPC whilst others just use free traffic.

The point I’m trying to make is that even though it might seem difficult to get going, the real secret of success is to do a business that works for you. I currently have several nice projects in the pipeline that I’m very happy with. But last year, I used to be all over the place and jumping from project to project. This was like shooting myself in the foot constantly, because it meant that I was unable to focus on a single revenue stream whilst some of my friends’ businesses really took off.

So my advice to you (and my own advice) is to find something that you believe in and works for you. If you’re not too big on writing articles, then focus on building an email list. I outlined in a previous post that you need to be “in it to win it” and if you’re able to find the model or strategy that works for you, then the sky is the limit!!
